Rules for everyone: Overviewesoouk.com on Tue, Apr 05, 2011 09:55 AM There are rules that all esoouk users, both buyers and sellers, need to know and follow. These rules help to protect you when you are buying and selling on esoouk, or participating in the community.
Rules about general member conduct
esoouk members cannot:
• Interfere with the esoouk site
Interference or attempted interference with esoouk's web site or operations using any software programme, routine or activity is a serious offence and is not permitted. Members using the esoouk's web site may only modify or add content in those areas specifically designated for member use. All content must also abide by all other esoouk policies. Designated member areas are:
• the description area of the view item page
• any content box
• the members' Profile page
• the feedback comments area of the Feedback forum
• the bid box
• the esoouk email forwarding system text box (eg Ask Seller a Question, Contact esoouk Member)
Under no circumstances may a member block, obscure, overwrite or modify any esoouk-generated content or pages. All other site locations or components of esoouk pages are strictly for esoouk use. Breaches of this policy may result in a range of actions, including: • Listing cancellation
• Limits on account privileges
• Account suspension
• Forfeit of esoouk fees on cancelled listings
Note: Posts made in esoouk’s Wanted Ads area must also comply with this policy. Want Ads posts that violate this policy may be removed. Repeated violations may result in suspension.
• Use profanity on the site:
For a pleasant experience on esoouk, we don't allow using hateful, offensive, profane or vulgar language in almost all public areas of the website, including: About Me pages
esoouk community sites
Discussion boards
esoouk Motors
esoouk shops
Feedback System Listings
Want It Now ads
Other areas of the site that people see
Make sure your listing follows our guidelines. If it doesn't, it may be removed and your buying and selling privileges could be restricted.
If you see a listing or an esoouk user breaking the rules, let us know via the contact form or link from the listing in question.
• Continue to use esoouk if a member’s account is suspended:
Trying to avoid suspension or restriction by using another existing account or registering a new account, is not permitted. A suspension on esoouk may be for a fixed length of time, indefinite or permanent and remains in effect until removed by esoouk. Breaches of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Listing cancellation Limits on account privileges Permanent Account suspension Forfeit of esoouk fees on cancelled listings
If you believe another member has breached this policy, please report them to us via the contact us link. For privacy and security reasons, esoouk will not share the results of their investigation with you. Note: Members are permitted to hold multiple accounts. They only breach this policy if they continue to trade on esoouk after one or more of their accounts has been suspended or restricted.
• Make offers to buy or sell outside of esoouk:
esoouk prohibits email offers to buy or sell listed items outside the esoouk web site. Offers of this nature circumvent esoouk's fee structure and are a potential fraud risk for both buyers and sellers. Some examples of outside such offers include:
Using information obtained through esoouk to offer to buy or sell a listed item outside of esoouk
Cancelling a listing to sell to a buyer who became aware of the item through esoouk
Ending a listing early to sell the item at a higher price to the winning bidder
It is acceptable for sellers to end a listing early to sell an item at the current bid price to the high bidder. Bidders are permitted to contact sellers with requests to end a listing early; however, sellers are under no obligation to do so.
Potential risk of transactions outside the esoouk online marketplace
Even though offers to buy or sell outside esoouk are not always made with the intent to defraud, there is a significant level of risk involved.
Some members have reported receiving offers to buy outside the esoouk online marketplace from sellers who insist that payment be sent using third-party instant money transfer services. These services are designed to allow individuals to send money to trusted parties such as family and friends.
The use of instant money transfers as a method of receiving payment, via companies such as Western Union or MoneyGram, is not allowed on esoouk.com. We have banned the use of instant money transfers as a payment method on the esoouk.com site to protect members, because in the past some sellers have exploited instant money transfers in order to defraud buyers. Our recommended payment gateway is PayPal.
Requests to send instant cash to an unknown third-party present a significant fraud risk, especially when the seller is offering to sell outside the esoouk online marketplace. If you have received an offer of this nature, please report it to us immediately.
Buyers who request that items be sold outside esoouk who wish to pay for the items with a credit card are also cause for concern, especially when the buyer requests that items be posted internationally. These types of offers may indicate that the buyer is attempting to purchase an item using stolen funds. If you suspect that this is the case, you can report the member making the offer via the contact us link.
Reporting outside- esoouk offers
To report any other outside esoouk offers, contact esoouk with the item number that the offer refers to, the user ID or email address of the member you are reporting and a copy of the email attached.
• Post want ads, except in the Want Ads section of esoouk
postings "Want Ads" are only permitted in the Want Ads area of the site and must comply with all esoouk policies.
Responses to Want Ads posts should match the description of the item in the post. Multiple reports received about a member sending inappropriate responses will result in the suspension of a member’s response privilege. Breaches of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:
Listing cancellation Limits on account privileges Account suspension Forfeit of eBay fees on cancelled listings Loss of PowerSeller status
The following apply specifically to Want Ads posts and responses:
Methods of direct communication included in a Want It Now post are not permitted. Examples include, links, User IDs, email addresses, phone numbers and live chat links.
Posts that contain personally identifiable information such as first and last name are prohibited. City, region and post code may only be included to help potential responders determine proximity to the buyer.
Posts soliciting goods, services or monetary gifts are not allowed, even when the solicitation is done by or on behalf of a registered charity.
Want Ads posts and items sent in response should not contain vulgar or offensive language. In addition to rules that apply to all esoouk members, esoouk also has rules specifically about Feedback, buying and selling.
